She started gymnastics a year before Shayla did, in 1992, at the Academy of Elite gymnastics. There, Jolene progressed from beginner to Level 8. In 1999, the Worleys left their old gym and headed to nearby Orlando Metro. Jolene competed Level 8 throughout 2000 and moved up to Level 9 in 2001. She was slated to advance to Level 10 in 2002, but she unfortunately broke her ankle and stayed at Level 9 for another year. Jolene's second season as a Level 9 proved to be a very successful one. She won bars, floor exercise and all-around at the 2002 State meet. At Regionals, she won bars and floor again, and advanced to Level 9 Nationals, where she took first place on floor exercise. In 2003, she moved up to Level 10, where she placed sixth on bars and fourth on floor and finished seventh all-around at Regionals. Her success at Regionals qualified her to the Level 10 National meet, where she finished 35th.
